Tensions between the Muslim World and the West have been simmering since the events of September 11th, 2001 and have frequently boiled over into violence in the Middle East and elsewhere. The international media stream images of violence, hatred, frustration and closed-mindedness – the worst tendencies in all of us. The Al Azhar-West Dialog Project seeks to cool the waters and summon our better selves by advancing pluralism and bridging gaps in understanding through substantive dialog. Through questions and answers, to sometimes thorny issues, we take small steps to understand each other better.
